On Sunday, Dec. 15, grab your ugliest holiday sweater and join the Vail Recreation District for a fun-filled morning run through Vail Village while collecting donations for the The Community Market and a local toy drive spearheaded by Edwards Jones in Eagle to distribute to local families in need.
Sure to become a holiday tradition for the entire family, the 2024 U.S. Bank Ugly Sweater Fun Run is a non-competitive event that will start and finish at Bart and Yeti's in Lionshead beginning at 8:30 a.m. Choose from a 5K or 3K run option. The race will be followed by an after-party at Bart & Yeti's with free breakfast burritos, breakfast beer, hot chocolate and raffle prizes!
Santa Claus will be leading runners through town on a bike, and participants will encounter fun aid stations and challenges along the route. Prizes will be awarded for best outfits by individuals, teams, dogs and kids.
We will have donation drop-off boxes at Dobson Ice Arena, the Imagination Station and the Vail Nordic Center in Vail. Additionally, all Edward Jones locations in Eagle County (Gypsum, Eagle, Edwards and Avon) will be collecting food and toys starting the week of Thanksgiving.
The 2024 Vail Ugly Sweater Fun Run is presented by The Steadman Clinic and US Bank with support from Bart & Yeti's and the Vail Daily.

Long Course (5K):
- Start at Bart & Yeti's restaurant in Lionshead
- Turn left towards E Lionshead Circle
- Turn right onto W Meadow Drive continue straight past Dobson Ice Arena and Vail Public Library
- Turn right onto Vail Road
- Turn right onto Beaver Dam Road
- Turn left onto W Forest Road
- Turn left and continue on W Forest Road
- Turn right onto Vail Road
- Turn right into Vail Village on Gore Creek Drive
- Turn right at Checkpoint Charlie and continue on Gore Creek Drive
- Turn right onto Bridge Street
- Turn left at the Bridge Street Fountain onto Hanson Ranch Road
- Turn left just past Big Bear Bistro through Troy's Alley and onto Gore Creek Drive
- Turn left on Gore Creek Drive
- Turn right at Checkpoint Charlie towards International Bridge and the Solaris
- Turn left at the ice rink onto E Meadow Drive
- Continue on E Meadow Drive past the Dobson Ice Arena and Vail Public Library
- Turn left onto E Lionshead Circle
- Turn left into Lionshead Village
- Turn right towards the finish at Bart & Yeti's restaurant in Lionshead
Short Course (3K):
- Start at Bart & Yeti's restaurant in Lionshead
- Turn left towards E Lionshead Circle
- Turn right onto W Meadow Drive continue straight past Dobson Ice Arena and Vail Public Library
- Turn right onto Vail Road
- Continue on Vail Road and then turn right into Vail Village on Gore Creek Drive
- Go straight past Checkpoint Charlie towards International Bridge and the Solaris
- Turn left at the ice rink onto E Meadow Drive
- Continue on E Meadow Drive past the Dobson Ice Arena and Vail Public Library
- Turn left onto E Lionshead Circle
- Turn left into Lionshead Village
- Turn right towards the finish at Bart & Yeti's restaurant in Lionshead
Registration:
Please sign up in advance so we know how many people to expect! Online registration will close on Saturday, December 14, 2025 at 8:00 p.m.
Day-of registration will also be available at Bart & Yeti's restaurant in Lionshead on December 15, 2025 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Bib-Pickup:
Participants can pick up their bib at Bart & Yeti's restaurant in Lionshead on December 15, 2025 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Please bring a donation of food or an unwrapped, new toy for our partner charities to pick up your bib. Cash donations will also be accepted on race day if you don't bring food or a toy (suggested donation is $10).
Race entry is $8 plus a donation of food or an unwrapped, new toy for our partner charities Eagle Valley Community Foundation's The Community Market and a local toy drive.
- Please bring your donation to the registration area at the race start by Bart & Yeti's restaurant.
- Cash donations will also be accepted on race day if you don't bring a toy or food (suggested donation is $10).

Closest parking will be at Lionshead Parking Structure or at Red Sandstone Parking Garage. Carpooling is highly recommended.
Town of Vail provides free buses that can get you throughout Vail if you wish to park elsewhere. You can look at the winter bus schedule HERE.
After-Party: Join us at Bart & Yeti's for the Ugly Sweater After-Party! Participants can enjoy a free breakfast burrito, breakfast beer and hot chocolate!
Awards: Prizes will be awarded for best outfits by individuals, teams, dogs and kids
Raffle: All particiants will be enterred into a raffle for great prizes from our sponsors! Racers must be present to win.
