Mini Mites will learn the fundamentals of ice hockey through fun and educational instruction and enjoy an introduction to competition. A couple of weekends each season will include scheduled games at the Eagle Ice Rink. Dobson Ice Arena offers rental equipment available for $50 on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please email Andy at aholland@vailrec.com to set up an equipment fitting.

Girls will learn the fundamentals of skating and hockey in a fun and educational environment. Rental equipment may be available for $50.  Please email Andy at aholland@vailrec.com regarding equipment for this program.

Registration TBD For Fall 2026 MHM! 
A great introductory program for any kids looking to join our Mini Mite or Mite programs, Dobson Ice Arena runs this program in conjunction with the Colorado Avalanche, NHL and NHLPA. Learn to Play is open to boys and girls ages four to ten years old. This program is offered to players that are not currently on a team and registration is based on that criteria. While not a prerequisite to our other hockey programs, this is a great way to get a full set of equipment and an introduction to the sport in a fun environment. Registration cost includes a full set of brand-new hockey equipment - skates, a Mile High Mites stick, Mile High Mites jersey, helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, shin guards, elbow pads, and pants - plus six, one-hour, on-ice sessions. Upon completion of the Learn to Play program, participants will be able to keep their equipment.
