OPTION ONE: Parking Validation at Dobson Arena
For the 2024/25 season, Dobson users can validate their paper ticket (pulled at the entrance gate in the Lionshead parking structure) at the Dobson front desk and receive two hours of free parking. If you return to Dobson multiple times in a day, you can validate your ticket each time. Only one validation per entry ticket.

Two hours after entry, the validation will no longer void any parking fees.

Some important points to remember with the new validation system:

  • Validation will provide two hours free if you exit within two hours from the time you enter. Example: enter at 9:20 a.m. and leave at 11:19 a.m.=free. Enter at 9:20 a.m. and leave at 11:21 a.m.=pay the 2-3 hour time block rate ($10/non-peak or $20/peak).
  • In order to validate, you must have your paper ticket to scan. You will also need this ticket to exit.
  • Validations cannot be used with Town of Vail parking passes, only the daily paper tickets. If the Town of Vail pass is used to enter, no discount will apply.

Who is this best for?

  • Dobson users who plan to stay at the arena for under two hours (note: you can exit a structure and re-enter after 30 minutes).
  • Dobson users who do not qualify for the local's pass.

OPTION TWO: Local Pass
Pass options can be found at
www.vail.gov/parkingpasses

If you are purchasing a Local Pass for the first time, the Vail Local Pass is $25 and the Eagle County Local Pass is $50. You must show proof of eligibility. Passes are available for purchase at www.vailgov.com.

The Local Pass gets you the first two hours of parking for free during non-peak rate days and free parking when entering after 5 a.m. and leaving before 9 a.m., as long as you enter and exit within those hours. It is valid from Nov. 15 through April 20.

Who is this best for?

  • Local players who practice early in the morning and will be done by 9 a.m.
  • Local users who plan to stay at the arena for longer than two hours during non-peak times - your daily rate will be lower.

PARKING AT RED SANDSTONE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (RSES)
551 N Frontage Rd W, Vail, CO 81657

If you don't qualify for the Local Pass, you may want to consider parking at the RSES parking garage, where the daily rate is cheaper than the Vail Village and Lionshead structures. From RSES, it is a 15-minute walk or short ride on the in-town bus system to Dobson.

There are four levels to the RSES parking garage; the first two are accessed immediately upon turning off of the north frontage road. Levels 3 and 4 can be accessed by turning right and going up the hill. Level 4 is available any day that school is not in session, so if you are looking for parking on a weekend day, Level 4 is a good option.

RED SANDSTONE STRUCTURE PARKING DAILY RATES

  • 0-2 Hours: Non-Peak: FREE | Peak: FREE
  • 2+ Hours: Non-Peak: $10 ($5 w/ local pass) | Peak: $20 ($10 w/ local pass)
  • Overnight, 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Levels 1-3 only): Non-Peak: $35| Peak: $35

At 35,000 square feet, Dobson Ice Arena is one of the largest multi-purpose ice facilities on Colorado's Western Slope. It's open year-round for hockey, figure skating and broomball. It hosts ice events such as the Vail Invitational Skating Championships and the Bob Johnson Hockey Camp, yet the Lipizanner Stallions have also performed here, and the arena has been home to many other non-ice events, including concerts.

In late October, the Ski and Snowboard Club Vail conducts its annual equipment swap here, a longstanding Vail Valley tradition. Dobson Ice Arena offers a variety of public skate times, classes, leagues, and competitions. It is also home to Vail Junior Hockey Club and Skating Club of Vail.

Dobson Ice Arena Highlights:

  • World-class ice rink
  • Highly skilled and capable staff including three Certified Ice Technicians, a certification recognized by the NHL
  • Variety of youth skating programs including Learn to Skate, Youth Hockey, Girls Hockey, Theater on Ice and more
  • Semi-pro hockey team Vail Yeti taking on opponents during lively and entertaining games throughout winter
